A state bill aiming to give residents limited rights to resist police officers who enter their homes illegally was passed by the Indiana House of Representatives on Thursday with several amendments.
The bill is a direct response to the Indiana Supreme Court decision in Barnes v. State of Indiana.
The state’s highest court ruled that a citizen never has the right to resist an officer in pursuit of an investigation. But state lawmakers disagree.

Indiana House bill 1006 is actually talking about attempting to de-regulate cosmetologists...and people are upset about it.

Passed by 95-3 vote, now going to the state senate for consideration. One of the 3 voters against it said it was just feel-good bill aimed at "outlawing stupidity."

New Indiana law gives citizens the right to defend themselves with reasonable force if they reasonably believe a public goon is acting unlawfully and aggressing against themselves, someone else, or their property. More states need to enact laws like this.

A state Supreme Court ruling last year that “there is no right to reasonably resist unlawful entry by police officers,” when a man was charged with assaulting an officer during a domestic-violence call. The NRA pushed for a new law that allows residents to use deadly force in response to the “unlawful intrusion” by a “public servant” to protect themselves and others, or their property. Police lobbied against it. The measure requires those using force to “reasonably believe” a law-enforcement officer is acting illegally and that it’s needed to prevent “serious bodily injury.”

Bill introduced into NH General Court to eliminate the right to use deadly force anywhere you have a right to be, changes the definition of non deadly force, and repeals provisions granting civil immunity for the use of force in certain circumstances.

"If you come home to find your house burglarized and you call, we're not coming," said Oakland Police spokeswoman Holly Joshi. The city laid off 80 officers from its force of 687 last month and the department can't respond to burglary, vandalism, and identity theft. "It's amazing. It's a big change for us." In other words, the monopoly is almost out of business, but no other organization can legally defend people from property crimes.
