The experiment, which did not entail a chain reaction that would create a nuclear explosion, was the 24th subcritical test the country has conducted since 1997, and the first one since August 2006 under the administration of President George W. Bush.

Iran offers new proposals at nuke talks

ISTANBUL, Turkey, April 14 (UPI) -- Talks between Iran and six world powers on the country's nuclear ambitions opened Saturday with the Islamic Republic saying it would present new proposals.

Iran's top negotiator, Saeed Jalili, who said before the talks that he intended to bring "new initiatives" to the table, was meeting with delegates from the United States, France, Russia, China, Britain and Germany, CNN reported.

President Barack Obama has been informed that the country defense forces lost complete command and control of one-ninth of the US nuclear arsenal last Saturday. Administration officials stressed that the problem was only temporary, but that doesn't mean it wasn't big.
