They have produced a map showing which police departments were discovered to be tracking people's phones without a warrant.

Several months ago, as a way to prevent the use of cellular phones in criminal activities, the government of Mexico started a program to require all phone owners to register cell phones in their own names. The registry associates each phone with the listed owner's Clave Unica de Registro de Poblacion (CURP) [CURP, in English], which is supposed to be a unique ID for every Mexican citizen.

LAPD pull over this 34 year old registered nurse and mother for talking on her cell phone and then proceed to body slam her on the ground twice. Once while she was handcuffed. These two beacons of the community then share a celebratory fist bump after they stuff their victim into the back of the squad car. The FBI is investigating the New Haven Police Department for illegally seizing a woman’s camera after she recorded them beating a handcuffed suspect Saturday night.

But that still doesn’t mean she will get her phone back anytime soon.
