On January 12, the Ninth Circuit issued a published opinion in the case of United States v. Lopez-Avila. Judge Bea, writing for a unanimous three-judge panel, had some critical comments about assistant U.S. attorney Jerry Albert of Arizona, who got name-checked in the opinion. Albert was criticized by the court for telling “a half-truth” during the trial. This misrepresentation resulted in a mistrial.
After the initial decision came down, the government moved to have Jerry Albert’s name removed from the opinion. That didn’t go over well with Judge Bea and his colleagues

I understand that there re many complaints about how the police react to people using cameras to record their actions, but you need to understand what goes through distorted mind.
To you and any other normal person, you are simply being peaceful and recording them using a non threatening camera.
To the police officer, they see an object containing glass, circuits, plastic, aluminum, steel, and death. And thus they get scared and conferscate your cameras and put you in a cage.

He now faces two counts of assault on a law enforcement officer by way of intimidation and two counts of obstruction of justice.

Police spokesperson Natatia Bledsoe claimed Loveless made a gun gesture at police officers, but Loveless denies making any kind of gesture at all.

A judge this morning formally dropped murder charges against a Lynwood police officer who had been accused of killing a man and wounding two others in a bizarre shooting spree along the Illinois-Indiana border.

Brian Dorian, 37, was released from Will County Jail Tuesday night, but appeared in court this morning where the judge accepted a motion to dismiss from prosecutors.
