Ed Schultz and Sean Hannity have found something they can agree on: It was wrong for liberals to launch a campaign targeting Rush Limbaugh's advertisers after he called a law student a "slut." Schultz is one of the most outspoken liberals on the left-leaning MSNBC network, recently taking up the cause of the labor movement in the Wisconsin recall elections. Hannity is the Ed Schultz of Fox News. Both are forces on talk radio in their own rights.

Playwrite David Mamet (American Buffalo, Glengarry Glen Ross, The Spanish Prisoner) wrote this op-ed for the Village Voice to christen the 2008 election season. For those unaware of Mamet, he is notoriously liberal.

You never hear about Liberals, Social Democrats or other moderate lefties going psycho & killing a load of people. Despite the fact that you never hear about moderate lefties going on murderous rampages, despite moderate lefties just wanting people to love & respect people far more; moderate lefties (particularly in the US) often face a tsunami of vectorial against them from the mainstream media. Oh & I’m in no doubts that right wing kooks won’t turn the attacks in Norway to their advantage.

So rather than continuing to fight for greater restrictions on Second Amendment rights, it is time for liberals to defend Second Amendment rights as vigorously as they fight to protect all of our other rights. Because it is by fighting to protect each right that we protect *all* rights.

If you are a believer in what is called a Democracy, your opinion is about to change. You see it’s quite simple. When it applies to the people in the private sector, no one believes in Democracy, which is defined as majority rule. It will be difficult to find anyone who would consider it to be an appropriate exercise of Democracy for 55% of the people to believe the remaining 45% of the population should be put to death and...

This explains so much. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Clear Channel is Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage, Mark Levin, Sean Hannity... Obviously they're not our guys at Free Talk Live!

Who is better informed about the policy choices facing the country—liberals, conservatives or libertarians? According to a Zogby International survey that I write about in the May issue of Econ Journal Watch, the answer is unequivocal: The left flunks Econ 101.

Zogby researcher Zeljka Buturovic and I considered the 4,835 respondents' (all American adults) answers to eight survey questions about basic economics. We also asked the respondents about their political leanings: progressive/very liberal; liberal; moderate; conservative; very conservative; and libertarian.
