“Don’t resist – you’ll just make it worse.” Until recently, the only people expected to make that demand of their innocent victims were rapists and police officers. Fortunately, women are no longer expected to submit to sexual assault, but rather to fight back by whatever means are available – unless the assailant is one of the State’s costumed enforcers, in which case resisting sexual assault would be a felony.

A House subcommittee is set to shed new light on the problem of sexual assault in the military today, when it will hear testimony on sexual assault numbers, prevention and response as part of its ongoing investigation into the issue.

"A woman who signs up to protect her country is more likely to be raped by a fellow soldier than killed by enemy fire," said Rep. Jane Harman (D-CA), who introduced a bill this summer to increase and encourage the investigation of prosecution of sexual assault and rape cases in the military and is attending today's hearing.

The head of the Air Force's Sexual Assault Prevention and Response branch was arrested and charged over the weekend with sexual battery after he allegedly fondled a woman in a parking lot near the Crystal City Gentleman's Club and Restaurant in Arlington, Va.

Sadly, while this may seem like a strange surge in cases starting out this year, it actually isn’t abnormal. Last year’s statistical report revealed that sexual misconduct reports against police were the second most common type of police misconduct report for the 8.5 months that we tracked reports in 2009 and that nearly half of those 500+ sexual misconduct reports involved the sexual abuse of children.

Apparently a few law enforcers went undercover dressed as anarchists to make it look like a not so peaceful protest. The real protestors were PEACEFUL.

Four journalists have filed complaints with Ontario's police watchdog, with allegations that police physically assaulted or threatened to sexually assault the females when they were arrested during the Toronto G20 summit.

The march, which lasted about an hour, comes amid growing rancor between Weis and the union representing rank-and-file officers. Chief among the union's complaints is how manpower in Chicago's 25 police districts has suffered from officers being detailed to other assignments.
