The purpose of the targets, according to the company that sells them, is to "eliminate any hesitation" that U.S. government employees might normally feel in shooting to kill pregnant women, children and old men. Sanaa, Yemen (CNN) -- Yemeni women defiantly burned their traditional veils Wednesday in protest of President Ali Abdullah Saleh's brutal crackdown on anti-government demonstrations.
Thousands of women gathered in the capital, Sanaa, said witnesses. They carried banners that read: "Saleh the butcher is killing women and is proud of it" and "Women have no value in the eyes in Ali Saleh."

Women are better at parking: study

After decades of male taunts over their driving skills, women can take heart from a new study Monday revealing that they are actually the better sex when it comes to parking.

A review of CCTV footage from 700 British car parks and interviews with 2,000 drivers found that when a range of factors are considered, including the method used and the time taken, women come out on top.

India's Chhattisgarh state is investigating reports that thousands of women had unnecessary hysterectomies so hospitals could make insurance claims. They were carried out under a national insurance scheme whereby private hospitals claim for treating patients who cannot afford expensive procedures. Officials estimate more than 2,000 women were talked into having their wombs removed in the last six months. The 34 medical centres accused have not yet commented on the allegations.

Reproductive healthcare providers remain the target of violence amid a wave of new legislation curtailing access to safe abortions. Last week, two clinics in Georgia and a women’s organization in New Orleans were set ablaze. Today, the House of Representatives votes on the Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act to ban abortions based on the sex of a fetus. Bills are also in the works to ban abortions 20 weeks after fertilization in Louisiana and Washington, D.C.
