In what will be seen as yet another example of the in-creasing power of Big Brother, drivers face the prospect of their cars being halted by somebody pushing a button.

It goes without saying, but we're gonna go ahead and say it anyway: Nobody likes getting a speeding ticket. And that's especially true when said ticket isn't issued by a human officer, but from a machine set up to catch unwary motorists off guard. If only there was some way to get back that lost sense of justice...

NRA: Stop Helping Human Rights Abusers Get Weapons!

Children -- no matter where they live -- must be kept safe from gun violence. The United Nations is preparing to finalize a treaty that would help to do just that by helping to stem the flow of weapons to human rights abusers. The National Rifle Association (NRA) leadership is standing in the way of these efforts by waging a campaign of misinformation and lies to force the U.S. government to oppose the treaty.

From the Daily Post in North Wales: "66 police vehicles owned by North Wales Police were caught on speed cameras in 2009-2010, it has been disclosed. However no action was taken in 59 of the cases because the officers were able to prove that they qualified for exemption such as attending an emergency call or gaining on another vehicle which it intends to stop."

A St. Paul, Minnesota family claims in a lawsuit that police officers who conducted a wrong-door raid on their home shot their dog, and then forced their three handcuffed children to sit near the dead pet while officers ransacked the home. The lawsuit, which names Ramsey County, the Dakota County Drug Task Force, and the DEA, and asks for $30 million in civil rights violations and punitive damages after a wrong-door raid

Two Clermont police officers have been fired and one suspended for playing an off-duty speeding prank that led to an officer drawing her weapon.

Heathcote police were called to an incident in the small town of Axedale, in central Victoria about 12.30pm AEST yesterday, where they used capsicum spray to subdue the 12-year-old boy and took him into custody.

Today Victoria Police said in a statement the boy was "acting in a threatening manner towards police and a family member" and "capsicum spray was deployed as a last resort to subdue the boy".

They would not say if he had a weapon.

A Seattle resident named Nick snapped the photo above in late June, passing it on to The Stranger, a weekly newspaper. It shows an empty police patrol car with an unattended semi-automatic rifle sitting on the trunk. A SPD spokesperson professes to being "very embarrassed" on behalf of the force.
