Boston Police arrested about 100 protesters affiliated with the Occupy Boston movement in a swift raid on Dewey Square in the early morning hours on Tuesday.

The arrests were the culmination of a standoff between protesters and police after a weeklong protest in downtown Boston expanded into the northern part of Dewey Square. The protesters have permission to occupy the southern portion, but when they expanded into the northern part on Monday, Boston police decided to take action.

Savannah Georgia was inspired by other areas in the country and has joined the growing marijuana celebrations and protests. Around 150 activist came out to a public square and protested Georgia's arcane drug laws. It was a mix of colorful,fun and eccentric protesters as well as average joes. It was a smashing success with minimal police harassment except for permits. Great job for a first celebration and we looking forward to seeing more.

Since the Iranian elections last year many Iranian people have gone out to the streets to protest a suspected fraud in the elections. During last week the biggest and bloodiest protests have gone in Tehran Iran. Now the Iranian regime is silencing the people and blocking any outside media to report.

Some Occupy Boston protesters packing, in wake of midnight deadline by Mayor Menino

Some Occupy Boston protesters began packing up their belongings today, in the wake of Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino issuing a midnight deadline for them to leave their Dewey Square encampment.

Protester William Krause, 40, of South Boston, was stuffing two garbage bags with his belongings this afternoon. He said he wasn’t going to stay to be arrested.

The Middle East is on fire, and now it seems the spotlight is on Libya, the land of Omar Mukhtar.

Protests began in Libya on February 15th with just 500 demonstrators in front of a police headquarters. The protest was quashed by police, injuring an estimated 40 participants.

Demonstrations escalated. February 17th was declared a “Day of Rage” in which protesters gathered in town centers across Libya calling for Muammar al-Gaddafi to step down. After he came to power in 1969 the flag of Libya was changed, but protesters have used the old flag as the symbol of the opposition.

Meet Sausage the riot dog, an amiable ginger mongrel resident of Syntagma Square in central Athens, who doesn't mind if you show up for a day of mayhem as long as he can join in.

Whenever there's a demonstration, Sausage is there, always taking the side of the protesters and cheerfully lending a sense of comic relief to the occasionally violent proceedings.

Logan Square Kitchen has had a tough first year. Despite their immense success, the support of their alderman and lots of love from the Chicago food press, the shared-kitchen concept simply doesn't fit in with current Chicago zoning laws, which can't seem to decide whether the spot is a shop, a restaurant or a production space. In reality, LSK is all three, and provides an important space in Logan Square for community organizing. It also allows start-up businesses who cannot afford their own store a place to manufacture products.

How would it respond to this weekend's Times Square bomb threat? Well, by extrapolation from its response to the 9/11 attacks and subsequent threats, the policy would be:

- All vans or SUVs headed into Midtown Manhattan would have to stop and have their contents inspected. If any vehicle seemed for any reason to have escaped inspection, Midtown in its entirety would be evacuated;

- A whole new uniformed force -- the Times Square Security Administration, or TsSA - would be formed for this purpose;

Protesting the shameful closings of children's lemonade stands around the USA, Robert Fernandes organized Lemonade Freedom Day. Protests took place in several cities. In Philadelphia Mr. Fernandes and his family were part of setting up a lemonade stand in Rittenhouse Square in center city.
