In the wake of a dramatic increase in deaths at the hands of U.S border patrol agents, the Department of Homeland Security has agreed to launch a long-awaited investigation into the agency’s use of force. Since 2010, border agents have killed at least 18 people, including Valeria "Munique" Tachiquin, slain by a Border Patrol agent on September 28 in broad daylight several miles north of California’s border with Mexico. Tachiquin was a U.S. citizen and mother of five children. Her family is now brings a wrongful death lawsuit against the Border Patrol.

Investigators said Valeria Alvarado ran down the agent with her car as border patrol agents were in a Chula Vista neighborhood to serve a felony warrant on Friday.
The agent said he had no choice but to defend himself and fired at Alvarado get her to stop the car. Alvarado was hit by five bullets.
According to eye witnesses, the shooting left the mother of five with bullet holes in her face, arms, and chest.

EL PASO, Texas — A U.S. Border Patrol agent shot and killed a 14-year-old boy after a confrontation at an international bridge near downtown El Paso, Mexican authorities said Tuesday.

In September of 2009, border patrol agent Bryan Gonzalez was fired for expressing his views on drug legalization to a fellow agent. Now, the American Civil Liberties Union of New Mexico has joined Gonzalez in filing a lawsuit on First Amendment grounds seeking unspecified compensatory and punitive damages.

The family of slain Border Patrol agent Brian Terry has filed a $25 million wrongful death claim against the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives claiming Terry was killed with AK-47s that were sold under the Fast and Furious gunrunning program. Sadly the family has also filed a claim against the Lone Wolf Trading Company seeking unspecified damages for negligence in selling the weapons to the purchaser and aiding and abetting in Mexican drug cartels’ conduct. When Lone Wolf only sold those weapons at the direction of the ATF.

A 57-year-old federal Transportation Security Administration employee has been arrested after a 15-year-old girl came forward claiming the agent had touched her inappropriately when she was 12. The arrest report says man told investigators he planned to make her his "sex slave." In the report, the agent acknowledges that he "groped" the girl, although the girl's version is more graphic.

Federal investigators believe that the fatal shooting of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Nicholas Ivie was the result of friendly fire.
