The government has begun a war on chalk. Outside the federal courthouse in Concord, NH, two activists are arrested for the crime of using sidewalk chalk.

Los Angeles police said Friday that they have arrested numerous people for chalking downtown in the weeks leading up to ArtWalk. Protesters organized a "Chalk Walk" during Thursday's monthly ArtWalk in downtown Los Angeles to "celebrate our right to free speech and remind the LAPD and the city of Los Angeles that chalking is NOT a crime." Los Angeles Police has been arresting people who have marked downtown with chalk. The chalkers have been targeting the area around the Central City Assn, as the "lobby group of the 1%," according to a handout distributed at ArtWalk.

Protesters wrote "anti-police" slogans with chalk on the city's police station Saturday, leading to eight arrests, police said. The fire department hours later hosed off the colored chalk that police considered "graffiti". - (Note: Quotation marks showing skepticism added by me. ~Deslock Darkstar)

29-year-old Susan Mortensen allowed her daughter to draw on rocks on Belle Isle with chalk.

Mortensen will now serve 50 hours of community service in order for the judge to dismiss her charge.

Outside the courthouse, people support Susan Mortensen with their own chalk on the sidewalk. However, in court, the officer who reprimanded her back in March says she responded with an attitude and curse words.

5th & Spring Downtown LA Chalk Walk Protest Draws Riot Police

Members of the "City Hall Sandwich Club" said they plan to take a protest to the steps of city hall, passing out food during a city council meeting on Monday.

The Orlando group said it plans to distribute food at 5 p.m.

It was a bit of an unusual site outside of Orlando City Hall -- a flash mob.

Students from the Central Florida Leadership Academy put on the big dance Friday to show their support for the Orlando Magic and the new Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.

The Food Sharing event held by Orlando Food Not Bombs took place a City Hall yesterday evening. The FNB group, a few homeless individuals and several individuals from the Orlando Liberty Activist crew visited the City Council meeting earlier this week with great success. The result .. The City Of Orlando has agreed to let FNB share food on its steps, without a permit and without continued arrests, just so long as they don't share food in the park.

Out of all of the cities with Occupy movements, the cost per arrest in Phoenix was the highest - taxpayers spent $4,430 per. If this math is correct, each officer got around $8,000 in overtime for 72 hours of police work to protect the city from just 40 protestors. Who does this benefit? Not Phoenicians.
