City of Houston stops homeless food bank due to licensing

Members of the "City Hall Sandwich Club" said they plan to take a protest to the steps of city hall, passing out food during a city council meeting on Monday.

The Orlando group said it plans to distribute food at 5 p.m.

The Food Sharing event held by Orlando Food Not Bombs took place a City Hall yesterday evening. The FNB group, a few homeless individuals and several individuals from the Orlando Liberty Activist crew visited the City Council meeting earlier this week with great success. The result .. The City Of Orlando has agreed to let FNB share food on its steps, without a permit and without continued arrests, just so long as they don't share food in the park.

Couple trying to feed homeless are ordered to stop because they don't have a permit.

"The Miami City Commission is set to consider a proposal next month that would prohibit unauthorized people and groups from feeding the homeless downtown, an ordinance proponents say will cut down on litter and ensure the safety of the food the homeless do eat."

On August 23, 2010 Liberty activists from the Orlando area gathered in front of Orlando City Hall to intentionally violate a City Ordinance banning "Group Feeding" (25 or more persons) within a 2 mile radius of city hall.. All local media was alerted prior to our demonstration and City Hall members were even invited to join us.

We violated this law and were able to feed over 100 homeless people without any confrontations with local law enforcement. We hope to continue this trend and explore the freedom of assembly by applying the same tactic to Public Assembly Ordinances.

“The goal is to start managing the homeless population within our city,” said Chief James Wickham. Wickham asked council members to pass a no-camping ordinance. “It just basically means you can’t set up a tent. You can’t live in your vehicle. You can’t live in the woods in Nevada City,” he said. That is unless you have a permit.

Thirteen of 16 people arrested Tuesday on charges of violating the new road safety ordinance pleaded guilty in court today.Guilty of being homeless,unemployed,hungry.
Judge Thomas Dannheisser sentenced them to time served.
