A proposed relaxing in the accuracy of the frequency of the nation's AC power grid could mess with any clocks that base their timekeeping on it. Basically any clock that blinks "12:00" when you lose power - stoves, microwaves, coffee makers, etc. The changes are supposed to make it easier to incorporate more "renewable energy" sources into the grid.

The US government worries that terrorists could take down the country’s electrical grid just by hitting a small node in the system. But a new study reveals the grid is too unreliable for that kind of attack.

Government officials across the country are forming so called “nuisance abatement teams” to intimidate people into giving up their land or conforming to the governments demands and hooking back into the grid. Counties across the country are actually jailing people for living the way they want to live.

London, Sep 22: Power grids may crash, communication systems may collapse and Internet may shut down in 2013 as scientists warned that a huge solar flare is due to burst in 2013.

A company in Idaho is developing an alternative to the antiquated roads that are currently used. They're built of solar panels that can store power, melt snow, transmit data and power, and illuminate.

Solar developers and environmentalists have had a wary relationship at times as disputes have arisen over the impact of big green power plant projects on wildlife and fragile landscapes. But on Wednesday, the U.S.’s major environmental groups joined solar power companies to press President Obama to support the extension of a key subsidy for renewable energy set to expire a year’s end.

William Williams, 76, of Cecil, vows to continue removing the guy wire and its anchor in his yard each time the power company replaces them. For Mr. Williams, it’s all a matter of civil disobedience. He said he refuses to surrender his property rights to the utilities.
