Sobrino Valdeci Picanto, 59, was arrested in Apore, Goiás, Brazil, for raping several women attending his church. He gave as an excuse that his penis had been consecrated with “divine semen of the Holy Spirit.”
The Large Hadron Collider was built specifically to look for the Higgs Boson, nicknamed "The God Particle", thereby revealing the religious agenda that is actually behind what may be history's most expensive church. It must be pointed out that even if the LHC, in the unimaginable fury of the high energy collisions it generates, succeeds in producing a particle that matches the description of the Higgs Boson (absent a piece of "massless matter" to test it with, how will we know?) that does not prove such a particle ever existed before, nor does it prove the Big Bang.
Hope for cancer patients? Change in a destructive policy of prohibition? Not so much. Deputy Attorney General James M. Cole released a memo this week clearly specifically out distributors and cultivators of cannabis for medical purposes, making them a high priority target in the war on (some) drugs. "The Ogden Memorandum was never intended to shield such activities from federal enforcement action and prosecution, even where those activities purport to comply with state law." What Tenth Amendment?
The "Ten Commandments" bill passed the House on 93-0 vote in favor of this and other “historically significant documents” to be displayed in public places regardless of that whole constitution thingy. One is baffled by the irony of a prominent, large, and gaudy display forbidding lying and stealing at courthouses considering some of the chosen occupations of those who work there.
Then, there is the Lenoir City police department. How separate can church and state be with the word "religion" right there on the police uniforms?
An article in the Libertarian Party of Florida's online newsletter, entitled "The Libertarian Problem with Anarchy", by Tom Rhodes. I find this pretty sad... back when I was involved with the LP in the 90s, it was largely a group of anarchists/voluntarists who hadn't yet completely given up on inside-the-system activism. I guess the LP really is dead, huh?
The third wave of ObamaCare taxes began on January 1, the latest blitz before the tsunami of changes from the health overhaul law hit in 2014. These new and higher taxes are being levied to partially pay for ObamaCare’s massive new subsidies for private health insurance and expansion of Medicaid.
The coup began when convention delegates voted "None Of The Above" over entrenched officers seeking re-election as LP Chair. When the position was opened to nominations from the floor and after multiple rounds of rancorous voting, emerging victorious were Lee Wrights for Vice Chair and Geoff Neale for Chair (endorsed by Wrights and Mary Ruwart). The rout continued for other LNC positions, with several longtime conservative operatives thrown out. Among the fresh slate of principled libertarians elected is Starchild, the superactivist from San Francisco.
...Wasserman Schultz said. “This is a penalty that will be assessed on the tax return if you choose to roll the dice and make us all pay for your being irresponsible and increase all of our health care costs.”
“We’re not going to tolerate that any more in America. You have to be responsible and you have to pay a penalty if you choose not to be,” she added...
