The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is urging parents to look for candy containing marijuana this Halloween.

Investigators have confiscated candies and snacks containing pot from marijuana dispensaries, and they are concerned such items could wind up in children's trick-or-treat bags, they said Friday in a statement.

Two International Security Assistance Force troops were killed in one of two helicopter crashes Monday in eastern Afghanistan, officials said. Separately, three police and four tribal elders were killed in a roadside bombing, police said. The first helicopter crash, during a routine operation, did not result in any fatalities, said ISAF spokesman Capt. Justin Brockhoff. Two died in the second crash, ISAF said.

TSA Agents at Louisville Airport Steal Deaf Man's Candy, Call Him "Fucking Deafie"

A group of students leaving the annual conference of the National Association of the Deaf in Louisville had a rather awful experience courtesy of the Transportation Security Administration in that city's airport. One of the travelers wrote about it on his blog:

This winter, the Air Force is set to deploy to Afghanistan what it says is a revolutionary airborne surveillance system called Gorgon Stare, which will be able to transmit live video images of physical movement across an entire town.

The system, made up of nine video cameras mounted on a remotely piloted aircraft, can transmit live images to soldiers on the ground or to analysts tracking enemy movements. It can send up to 65 different images to different users; by contrast, Air Force drones today shoot video from a single camera over a "soda straw" area the size of a building or two.

Skylar Torbett, also a junior, said administrators told him, "The candy canes could be used as weapons by sucking on them and making them have sharp points."

It's near-impossible to find anyone in Afghanistan who doesn't believe the US are funding the Taliban: and it's the highly educated Afghan professionals, those employed by ISAF, USAID, international media organisations – and even advising US diplomats – who seem the most convinced.

In the wake of a dramatic increase in deaths at the hands of U.S border patrol agents, the Department of Homeland Security has agreed to launch a long-awaited investigation into the agency’s use of force. Since 2010, border agents have killed at least 18 people, including Valeria "Munique" Tachiquin, slain by a Border Patrol agent on September 28 in broad daylight several miles north of California’s border with Mexico. Tachiquin was a U.S. citizen and mother of five children. Her family is now brings a wrongful death lawsuit against the Border Patrol.

Cops arrest 2 guys and hold them in jail for 5 days for "drugs" that turned out to be candy. Oh yeah, it smelled like candy too, but neither a $0 sniff test or a $20 field test to determine the mens guilt or innocence was performed before they were sent off to jail.

Now 9 years into this occupation, coordination still remains a problem between NATO, US, and Afghan forces. Yahoo front page article contains disturbing quotes such as NATO commander Blitz "We were obviously not absolutely clear whether there were Afghan national security forces in the area."

Also last month was the deadliest for international forces since the war began, with 103 killed, including 60 Americans.
