The National Gun Victims Action Council:a anti gun group, have called for a boycott of Starbucks on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14. They've targeted Starbucks because the popular coffee shop chain has steadfastly refused to impose firearms restrictions above and beyond the gun laws that already exist at their 18,890 locations.
To ensure that the boycott gains no traction, many blogs serving the gun-rights community have designated Feb. 14 as Starbucks Appreciation Day. Please visit Starbucks on Valentine's Day and buy the fanciest item you can. They serve a lot more than coffee.

A day of boisterous protests over cuts to higher education that included thousands of students swarming the state Capitol ended with dozens of arrests after demonstrators refused to leave the building. Authorities on Monday evening arrested 68 people, most of whom will be charged with trespassing, the California Highway Patrol said.

A manager told police that staff handed him a courtesy cup, which he then filled up with soda from a fountain machine.
During a conversation with the manager, Abaire refused to pay for the soda, valued at $1, and refused to leave the premises.

The Anaheim police officers who killed two men in back-to-back shootings in July have returned to their jobs and are no longer on paid administrative leave, a police spokesman confirmed Thursday. Anaheim Police Sgt. Bob Dunn said he did not know exactly when the two officers returned but said it had been "a couple of weeks." He declined to provide their names but described both as veteran police officers.

After cursing at a professor during a Spanish final, former Columbia-Juilliard student Oren Ungerleider was involuntarily committed to St. Luke’s Hospital and kept there against his will for 30 days. When he arrived at St. Luke’s, Ungerleider was interviewed by a series of psychiatrists, and he refused to answer their questions. When he tried to leave, three doctors tackled him and forcibly injected him with the drug Haldol. Doctors medicated him against his will and kept him in containment.
