CU-Boulder students arrested on 4/20 to fight charges on First Amendment grounds. Peacefully exercising their right to assemble, and freedom of speech on the grass of their own public university; these three honest students were taken to county jail. The students pleaded not guilty, and plan to file motion to dismiss. It may, and will go to a jury trial if need be.

...in an extraordinarily rare move, prosecutors in Denver are seeking a court order forcing Fricosu to unlock the computer so that they can obtain files they would use to try to convict her and her ex-husband.

Police misconduct-The Sussex County Court of Common Pleas has found the Rehoboth Beach Police Department has engaged in “entrenched, flagrant misconduct” in its handling of testing for DUI cases. Despite the finding, the court did not dismiss the case that brought the police misconduct to light.

According to The National Law Journal, D.C. Superior Court Judge Judith Bartnoff signed a temporary restraining order barring it from publishing the material the reporter had found out, specifically saying that The National Law Journal could not name the government agency that was involved in a regulatory inquiry into one of the participants in the lawsuit. When the NLJ reporter pointed to the First Amendment, the judge allegedly replied that she did not care:

Judge Edward Tenney followed a recent First Circuit Court of Appeals decision in Boston in Glik v. Cunniffe in ruling that William Alleman was within his constitutional rights when making an audio recording of Weare Police Officer Brandon Montplaisir during the traffic stop on July 10, 2010.

American Airlines and United Continental must face trial over a lawsuit in which the lease holders of the World Trade Center allege that lax security allowed hijackers to destroy the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001.

Federal Judge Alvin Hellerstein in New York on Tuesday rejected a motion by American and United to have World Trade Center Properties' suit seeking compensation thrown out.

The "defendants' motion is denied," the judge ruled, court papers show. "The overlap between WTCP's insurance recovery and its potential tort recovery presents issues of fact requiring trial."

A South Carolina woman is heading to court for a jury trial over a ticket she was given by police for displaying big, plastic testicles on the back of her pickup truck. Virginia Tice was reportedly given a $445 ticket July 5 that claims she violated the state's obscene bumper sticker law. She was ticketed after pulling into a gas station in her truck with big red fake testicles hanging from the trailer hitch. Police Chief Franco Fuda asked for a jury trial, saying questions of obscenity should be determined by community standards.
