The dog's owners are angry and confused, but police officials say the officer acted responsibly.

Two Lakeland police officers say they used lethal force when a man made a move for his gun in Thursday night's fatal shooting.

But the dead man's girlfriend says that's not how it happened and that her boyfriend shouldn't have been shot.

Stunned dog owners and residents of a Severn neighborhood are shocked that authorities won't be charging a federal police officer who shot and killed a Siberian husky Monday night at a community dog park.

A Jefferson County constable shot a woman suspected of shoplifting in a Walmart parking Wednesday afternoon, Louisville Metro Police said. Whitlock told police he approached a female suspect in her car in the parking lot. He said the woman ran over his foot, prompting him to fire his gun, Mitchell said. The woman, whose name has not been released, was shot in the arm and hand, Mitchell said. It was not clear how many shots Whitlock fired.

It’s becoming way too commonplace. Last week, a pet Newfoundland in Des Moines, Wash., was shot four times — yes, four times — by a police officer who had tried and failed to wrangle the 115-pound dog, who had gotten out of her yard. Her name was Rosie. She was 2. She joins Gloria, the arthritic, 11-year-old yellow Lab police shot to death in her own backyard last month in Oakland, Calif.

"They had helicopters. They had people all over here, you couldn't walk the streets. They got people detained for four hours out there on the ground like we shot this police officer."

This woman, a resident of the community that was searched, was especially angered that Bullard chose to identify his fake shooter as a black male. "That's not right. It's all they do around here. A black person. Everything that happens, a black person."

A Charleston County mother and her 14-year-old daughter were spending some quality time together one Sunday evening when the conversation turned to sex.

She asked her daughter whether she was sexually active, and the Burke High School freshman surprised her with the news that she had sex once. After a few minutes of silence, the mother told her daughter that she wanted to call the family doctor and arrange for her to go on birth control.

The Prince George's County prosecutors have dropped charges against two University of Maryland students they claimed struck mounted Park Police officers and their horses after a basketball game in March. A video shot by another student, meanwhile, shows police beating one of those students without apparent provocation.
