New York police tout improving crime numbers to defend frisking policy

New York (CNN) -- New York police on Sunday touted the impact of their much-criticized "stop, question and frisk" policy, claiming it has contributed to a spike in the number of firearms confiscated and coincided with what is shaping up to be a historically low murder rate.

More Arrests for Pot than Violent Crimes [Infographic]

In the United States, the number of arrests for marijuana possession now exceeds the number of arrests for all violent crimes combined. The Huffington Post infographic below illustrates the surprising statistics provided by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

More than 35 violent deaths in Australia have been linked to men who attended the same, often brutal, boys'

Fifteen of these deaths led to convictions for either murder or manslaughter.

The Institution for Boys, Tamworth was established in 1947 as a place of punishment for boys aged 15 to 18 who absconded from other boys' homes.

Many of you may think of Vermont as the best state for 2nd Amendment rights being acknowledged- not anymore. Over 2 years ago the guy who runs the fleamarket in Newfane Vt had 5 or 6 fed goons LITERALLY strong-arm him. They told him he was NOT to allow any dealers to sell guns anymore, while one of them put a squeeze on his arm. He said they were FBI but there could have been BATF too. They scared him with the strong arming and a threat that he could be charged with some crime if he allows any more sales. They claimed that crimes occuring in Massachusetts etc.

When we hear about a nasty crime being committed, the most common reaction is saying, "Oh no, that's terrible!" and then going back to launching birds through the air on our iPhones. But, while most of us think that it's best to leave the crime fighting to those who are actually trained (and paid) for it, sometimes a normal citizen will decide to take the law into his or her own hands ... and end up doing a way better job than the cops.
