Lemonade Freedom Day, will take their raw milk and lemonade to the lawn of the US Capitol to celebrate their right to “voluntary exchange.”

By offering raw milk and lemonade for sale or barter, which is illegal in many places including Washington DC, these mothers and other activists risk criminal charges, and possibly jail.

When kids sell things, such as lemonade, they are learning some very important lessons. They are learning about money and about being an entrepreneur. They are also learning how to be a productive member of society. They are learning about responsibility. They are participating in free and voluntary trade with willing participants. Selling lemonade is not a crime.

Protesting the shameful closings of children's lemonade stands around the USA, Robert Fernandes organized Lemonade Freedom Day. Protests took place in several cities. In Philadelphia Mr. Fernandes and his family were part of setting up a lemonade stand in Rittenhouse Square in center city.
