There’s this meme floating around on YouTube. There’s these videos satirizing the ridiculous things people say, usually broken down by demographic. What I’m not seeing is a lot of liberty themed “Shit People Say” videos. So, I’m going to give you a little incentive. I’d like to see some good “Shit Statists Say” videos or “Shit Ben Bernanke Says” videos. I don’t want to limit you. Feel free to get creative. I’m partial to funny hats.

Do you ever get sick of hearing about "the greatest generation"? For over 60 years now, it's been all "they survived the Depression" this and "they defeated the Nazis" that and "they never looked stupid in hats." Well, not everything the heroes of the 20th century did was pitch perfect. For example, the WWII destroyer USS William D. Porter was easily the stupidest ship ever launched. If ships were people, this one would be the kid who ate paste off a stick. And then almost killed the president by accident.

A Georgia sheriff seeking re-election this year responded to an embarrassing moment from his past after old photos of him dressed in a Ku Klux Klan robe and hood surfaced. Cherokee County Sheriff Roger Garrison, who denied affiliation with the KKK, told ABC Atlanta that the photos, which were taken at a Halloween party more than 25 years ago, were a costume meant to depict a scene from the Mel Brooks satire "Blazing Saddles." "I don't deny it wasn't stupid, looking back now," Garrison said. "But there again I say what 21- or 22-year-old in this world hasn't made some stupid mistakes?"

I wanted to get a feel for life during the time in history when now-dead people made the anti-substance laws that society is oppressed with today. I searched for stories in the NY Times--y'know, that most authoritative newspaper in the world. What I found shows as much about anti-drug mania and racism as it does about the credibility of the NY Times. The link is to a collection of some of the more amazing articles. Each article is included for a reason, though the part that got my attention may be at the end of the article.

In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, I thought it would be appropriate to celebrate a rare beast in fiction: nonviolent heroes.

We've previously discussed some of the most hilarious ways grown adults, tasked with either the defense or expansion of their nation, have managed to dick things up so completely that it crosses into the realm of comedy. Here are a few more instances of people stepping onstage in the military theater and splitting their pants in front of everyone.

Some men shape history by accident, and some shape it by design. Some shape history by God's decree, and some shape it by sheer force of personal will. Still others shape history by drunkenly stumbling into it, urinating on it and then dancing around naked while wearing it like a hat. Those men are our heroes, and these are their tales:

Let's pretend for a moment that zombies are real (as if half of you weren't already daydreaming about that very thing). Have you noticed how most zombie movies take place only after the apocalypse is in full-swing? By the time we join our survivors, the military and government are already wiped out, and none of the streets are safe.
