Police have arrested 190 people in a major US crackdown on child pornography, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) say. Federal agents said on Friday that the month-long 'Operation Orion' also resulted in identifying and rescuing 18 children. In a statement, ICE said most of the arrests during Operation Orion through the month of May took place in the US, but suspects were also picked up in Argentina, Britain, the Philippines and Spain.

In the wake of a dramatic increase in deaths at the hands of U.S border patrol agents, the Department of Homeland Security has agreed to launch a long-awaited investigation into the agency’s use of force. Since 2010, border agents have killed at least 18 people, including Valeria "Munique" Tachiquin, slain by a Border Patrol agent on September 28 in broad daylight several miles north of California’s border with Mexico. Tachiquin was a U.S. citizen and mother of five children. Her family is now brings a wrongful death lawsuit against the Border Patrol.

Federal authorities have arrested a New York Police Department officer on charges he helped a crew of bandits rob drug dealers.

Prosecutors in Brooklyn alleged Thursday that Emmanuel Tavarez supplied the crew with NYPD raid jackets, bulletproof vests, handcuffs and badges so they could impersonate police officers during staged raids on drug dens in Queens and elsewhere.

They say he also acted as a lookout during armed holdups that netted hundreds of kilograms of cocaine.
