Prominent gay donor asks Mitt Romney for his money back over same-sex marriage

As you've undoubtedly heard, President Obama came out in support of same-sex marriage last week. (Yay! I mean, a little late and also he said it was up to the states to decide, which is silly, but still: yay!) In response, Mitt Romney, the presumed Republican presidential candidate, assured everyone that he was really, really not in favor of two dudes or two ladies getting hitched. He even got a standing ovation for saying so in his commencement speech at Jerry Falwell's super conservative Liberty University.

Unfortunately, too much attention got directed to Clint Eastwood and lost in the discussion was a plank on the GOP platform of interest to those desiring sound money.

"There are a number of people here [at Liberty Forum] who have been going to Tea Parties and have been turned off by all the nationalism," he said, "agreeing that [Republicans] all want a piece of it. The question is, how do we reach those people?"

Perhaps the better question is, how do you prevent those people from allowing what was a genuine grass-roots opposition to the Republican mainstream platform to become part of the Republican mainstream platform?

Call them "unicorners." A liberal group says it has collected more than 19,000 e-mails requesting Arizona officials to confirm Mitt Romney is not a unicorn.

As has been widely reported, an official Romney campaign ad that showed President Obama singing a line from the Al Green song "Let's Stay Together" has been hit with a takedown from BMG Rights Management — the group that controls the publishing rights of the original song — and pulled from YouTube. The takedown is an obvious abuse of the DMCA process: the ad was a clear fair use and therefore noninfringing. But the unfortunate real story here is that this kind of takedown abuse is all too common, and we're likely to see it again this campaign season.
