A Gwinnett County homeowner said police were off target when they searched his home looking for marijuana plants in basement grow rooms. "They said, 'Just say you had plants and you moved them someplace else.' And I just kept telling them the truth. There was never a marijuana garden here," said Scott Smithwick. Smithwick has set up high intensity lamps, fans and a watering system in two basement rooms in the Lawrenceville home that he shares with his father. He said he does not grow, sell or smoke marijuana and uses the equipment to cultivate mostly tropical plants and flowers.

Seattle police officers bust down a man's door with guns drawn and toss his place. There were two pot plants inside, but more importantly, the guy was a registered medical marijuana patient fully within his rights to grow. Probable cause has yet to be established. Also of note, marijuana possession is, by law, the lowest priority for Seattle law enforcement.

FARMINGTON -- About 1,000 marijuana plants were stolen from a Farmington law enforcement storage facility overnight Tuesday.

Farmington police officers discovered the break-in Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., according to police Chief Jack Peck.

An overhead garage door had been "pried open" and much of the marijuana, seized Tuesday in a northern Franklin County drug raid, was gone, Peck said.

The police alleged the man consented to a search and properly identified themselves as police. The videotape showed otherwise and the charges were dismissed.
