YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) — Three members of a Michigan city council have abstained from voting on a measure that would have prevented them from abstaining on future votes.

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Smokers have just one message for Mayor Michael Bloomberg and City Council members: butt out of our business.

“We’re outside. We should have freedom to smoke,” City Hall Park smoker Harvey Forbes told CBS 2’s Magee Hickey.

By a vote of 36 to 11 on Wednesday the City Council approved a bill to ban smoking in all city parks, beaches and pedestrian plazas.

In California, a special program was designed to guard the safety of peace officers and judges by keeping their addresses private to protect them from criminals.
The program has since expanded to include legislators, city council members, county supervisors, prison employees, trial court workers, parking officers, Child Protective Services social workers, national park rangers, other groups, and their spouses and children, and even after they are no longer public employees.

The City Council Public Safety and Education Committee released an 11-step plan Friday to strengthen public trust in the Seattle Police Department.

The measures include enhanced hiring standards and training of officers, monthly reports of sustained misconduct findings, drug-testing for officers involved in the use of deadly force and expedited review of possible criminal charges against officers.

Councilmember Tim Burgess, chairman of the committee, said the measures are meant to "stop the erosion of public confidence."

“The goal is to start managing the homeless population within our city,” said Chief James Wickham. Wickham asked council members to pass a no-camping ordinance. “It just basically means you can’t set up a tent. You can’t live in your vehicle. You can’t live in the woods in Nevada City,” he said. That is unless you have a permit.

Over the last two years the problems have continually got worse. Chief Jeff Gilbert is fixated on the politics in this town. He Is personally involved In them and all his time and attention is directed towards political gain to benefit of himself. He is obviously biases towards certain council members and is against and outspoken to other candidate and council members. He runs license plates just to find out names of people whose vehicles are parked at businesses/residences of people he don’t like.
