Christchurch, New Zealand, had an earthquake a month ago. Folks there have not been able to get to their buildings since then and are getting upset. One women learned her building had been torn down from a video shown at a memorial.

Hundreds of officers are training for an earthquake that will never, ever happen. So what is the real reason for the exercise that trained for response to injury and fire in a small town? Civil unrest? Terror attack? Or to waste money and time?

Just thought I'd point out that according to the government goons in Canada, Earthquakes of magnitude 7 occur about 20 times per year (or about one every 2.5 weeks) somewhere in the world. So by chance alone, any prediction of a magnitude 7 quake would likely be accurate to within a few weeks whether it was based on a correct model or not.

"Backscatter" X-ray machines, which bombard your body with radiation at the airport, are a subject of controversy in the US. Not in Europe, Mother Jones reports—the machines are now banned throughout the entire EU over cancer risks. Good.

The simple fact is that even a "low" x-ray exposure increases cancer risk, if only by a small amount. If you fly frequently, those small amounts add up. And that's not even including the government agency seeing me naked side of the issue. But the radiation risk is enough for EU regulators.

Santiago is not destroyed, and no way like Japan or California. Concepción and the south is another story, there is real damage, but not Santiago.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is set to begin construction on a new high-risk bio-weapons research facility on the campus of Kansas State University in Manhattan Kansas.
The new facility will feature research on biolevel 3 and 4 viruses - some without any known cures - and other potentially dangerous materials.
The problem, critics say, is the location and the inherent seismic and weather-related disasters that could befall the facility, wreaking havoc on the surrounding population and beyond.
