Don't think you need a government? London police are instructed to keep an eye on you. A brief sent out from the Westminster Counter-Terrorist Focus Desk this week contains this gem: “Anarchism is a political philosophy which considers the state undesirable, unnecessary, and harmful, and instead promotes a stateless society, or anarchy. Any information relating to anarchists should be reported to your local Police.”

Vancouver Police Chief Jim Chu is blaming "criminals and anarchists" who, he said, disguised themselves as Canucks fans for riots after the team lost the NHL's Stanley Cup finals.

The problem with the contemporary media narrative on protest is that, in its refusal to understand the nuances of anarchism, it is using the term as a euphemism for "dangerous", "violent" or "bad".... The dangers of this way of thinking hardly need explaining. There are flickers of McCarthyism in the way the state is currently dealing with those it perceives as threatening. Potential anarchists are intimidated and smeared, and denied liberty on the grounds of nebulous and almost Orwellian charges.

London's Metropolitan Police want neighbours to spy on and report anarchists to them!

The Keene Activity Center (KAC) is a place where (mostly) young libertarians and anarchists in Keene, New Hampshire congregate to talk philosophy, plan activism (including civil disobedience), and generally relax and socialize. Apparently the Federal Bureau of Investigation has been trying very, very hard to infiltrate the KAC, judging from this account of the arrest of one of the club’s members, Rich Paul, on marijuana charges.

Under a law in place since the beginning of September, squatting in empty residential properties in England and Wales is already a criminal offence, with those convicted facing months in prison and steep fines. The ministry of justice estimates that up to 2,000 people could be prosecuted each year.

Statists of all stripes should read this prior to arguing against anarcho-capitalism, agorism and voluntaryism.

This story about the FBI busting "anarchists" for trying to blow up a bridge even has the NY Times wondering why we have an agency that -- like children -- creates their own terrorist plots, "solves" the crime, and gives themselves a round of applause.

History abounds with “end times” predictions. Often they’re of a religious nature, but radical politics has provided its share of such prophecies. When the Bolsheviks took control of Russia, for example, they believed that they were within years of instigating and leading worldwide revolution. Some early anarchists believed that they could usher in a millennium of statelessness through the right “Propaganda of the Deed” — kill the right politician, strike versus the right corporation, and the ball would roll quickly and unstoppably downhill.
