One of the better news agencies in Austin has some choice footage showing state legislators casting votes in the place of colleagues who might not even be in the building. Hypocritically, this happened even as the state legislature itself passed laws criminalizing regular folks who vote on behalf another person in general and primary elections. The best part? While the speaker of the House acknowledges that this practice violates the rules of the legislature, but chooses not to enforce the rule.

A candidate would rather be ahead in New Hampshire than behind, of course. At the same time, it is worth remembering how often the state’s primary has upset the political apple cart by handing a defeat to the candidate leading in the polls.

By the end of 2010, New Hampshire was no longer the freest state in the nation. The 2009—10 legislature hiked numerous taxes and fees and used one-time stimulus dollars and new debt to fund a significant increase in government spending.

The New Hampshire State March will be held April 10, 2010 from 10AM – 2PM at the State House in Concord, N.H. A brief march down North Main Street will kick-off the event. State Coordinator Ken Sharples announced the following line-up of speakers and entertainment: State Representative Dan Itse, State Representative Jennifer Coffey, Patriot Pastor Garrett Lear, U.S. Congressional Candidate Bob Giuda and live music by the band Good Foot.

WE ARE writing because we have noticed an extreme and alarming change to our state government. We used to think that New Hampshire government, a pretty local enterprise given the small size of our state, was a true government of and by the people. But strange things are happening in our State House, sometimes so quickly that nobody has time to react.

While the Austin, Texas, police were offering grocery cards in exchange for unwanted firearms over the weekend, local activists showed up to outbid the men in uniform, insisting liberty would be better served if the guns were in the hands of law-abiding citizens instead.

At the "no-questions-asked" event held at Oak Meadow Baptist Church in South Austin, the Austin Police Department offered, for example, a $100 Visa grocery card for an unwanted handgun. The activists offered $110 in cash.

State Rep. Daniel Itse of Fremont, NH, wants to create a volunteer “permanent state defense force,” separate from the New Hampshire National Guard, to assist with disaster relief and “defend the state against invasion.”
