Salt Lake City Police Chief Chris Burbank has issued an apology after narcotics detectives raided the wrong home and pointed a gun at its 76-year-old female resident. Burbank said the woman was not injured when the search warrant was executed late Wednesday night, but one officer was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation. "She's certainly had the event of a lifetime, and one that I am very sorry that she had to experience at all," Burbank said.

The evidence is shocking when viewed from the Salt Lake Valley’s canyons: A brown stew of stagnant air swallowing clean air and stealing views like a suffocating shroud. A Salt Lake City woman who used a computer to paste the head of a 13-year-old girl onto a photo depicting bestiality and then distributed the fliers at the victim’s school was sentenced to a year in jail and three years of probation Monday.

Police in Hampton are using a 26-foot portable surveillance tower to keep an eye on people at Hampton Beach.

The tower has four digital video cameras mounted on top, and the cameras can be used to zoom in to closely watch people along a wide stretch of the beach.

The cameras can be accessed by police officers either at the tower itself or remotely via laptops.

As police continue to blatantly steal and destroy cameras from citizens without any legal authority whatsoever, it is essential to store our video footage online so it can accessed regardless of what happens to our cameras.

Citing costs and safety issues, the Police Commission votes to shut the cameras down. Unless the City Council intervenes, their use at 32 intersections could end within weeks.
