Dallas area gun owner Terry Nye needs our help after being charged with unlawful firing of a weapon during a recent burglary of his home. Terry fired a warning shot into the dirt upon which the intruders scrambled. Mesquite Police have charged him with a crime he cannot afford to defend himself against. A man allegedly was locked in a cell by a prison gaurd to be beaten unconscious and raped by 5 inmates. He was later acquited of the charges which put him in prison.

Special Ed. High School student who videotaped a cop abusing a fellow student, charged with "lynching", held in jail over holidays on $155,000 bail, and offered a "deal" of 32 months in prison.

He never touched the cop.

OK already has a law that allows those convicted of cultivating or selling marijuana to be sentenced with up to life in prison. Reason's Matt Welch weighs in.

In the last decade, New York drastically reduced its prison population and at the same time experienced a huge drop in crime. Indiana, on the other hand, drastically increased its prison population — and consequently the burden to taxpayers — while seeing a much smaller drop in crime than the national average.

I don't really know or care who Roger Clemens is, but he may be locked up for lying to Congress. Apparently he's a pretty well-known guy, so you guys could discuss how he will be locked up for doing nothing wrong.

The Dutch justice ministry has announced it will close eight prisons and cut 1,200 jobs in the prison system. A decline in crime has left many cells empty.
During the 1990s the Netherlands faced a shortage of prison cells, but a decline in crime has since led to overcapacity in the prison system. The country now has capacity for 14,000 prisoners but only 12,000 detainees.

A bill that could send women to prison for going topless in public appears headed for approval by the North Carolina legislature.
Depending if such exposure is judged to be "for the purpose of arousing or gratifying sexual desire," the woman could be charged with a felony, punishable by up to six months in prison for first-time offenders. More mundane exposure would be a misdemeanor meriting up to 30 days in jail.
