An Indianapolis police officer who was once honored for his prolific arrests of drunken drivers could cost the city more than $1 million in legal claims stemming from a fatal crash in which he is accused of driving drunk.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving spokeswoman Dorene Englert expressed disappointment today in Officer David Bisard. MADD recognized Bisard in the late 1990s while he was a Noblesville police officer.

FTA: "In the video, Flint Farmer was lying on the grass between the curb and the sidewalk. It was shortly before 2 a.m. on a June morning in the West Englewood neighborhood, and Farmer had been shot by a Chicago police officer. Then, according to the video, the veteran officer, Gildardo Sierra, stepped onto the parkway and walked a semicircle about the prone Farmer as three bright flashes went off. The flashes, captured by a police car video camera, were fatal shots fired into Farmer's back, officials say.

NEW YORK – The New York Police Department is investigating why it took more than eight hours for a police officer suspected of drunken driving to be given a blood-alcohol test. Rafael Casiano crashed his car at about 4:30 a.m. Friday in the Bronx while off duty. Another officer riding with him with was hospitalized with a head injury.

New York City will pay more than $7 million to settle a civil lawsuit brought by the estate of a man killed by police outside a Queens' nightclub in 2006 and by his two friends, who were seriously wounded, a spokeswoman for the city's Law Department said Tuesday. (All involved officers were acquitted of all charges in 2008)

An Indianapolis police officer tested at more than twice the level at which a driver in Indiana is considered legally drunk when he crashed his squad car into two motorcycles Friday, according to a victim's relative.

The accident killed one rider and critically injured two others.

Moments after his motorcycle struck a 4-year-old girl, an off-duty Chicago Police officer shot and killed the girl’s irate father after he allegedly attacked the officer, the Chicago Sun Times reports.

When the Framingham police responded to a call just before 2 a.m. last month that a house had been egged, the culprits weren’t juveniles, but experienced, off-duty Newton police officers. Newton officials would not provide the names of the officers or specify how they were disciplined, saying it was a personnel matter.
However, two of the officers involved have been disciplined before and will receive harsher punishments.
The agency is also dealing separately with one off-duty officer who was drunk, he said.

Police officer was drunk and crashed his car. He then stood on the roof and started shooting at people. Multiple people had gunshot wounds. He has 2 prior incidents involving alcohol.

A Cook County judge today ruled that a Chicago police officer accused of drunk driving in a fatal crash on Thanksgiving 2007 was arrested and detained without probable cause.

Judge Thomas V. Gainer Jr. also called the police lieutenant who ordered Officer John Ardelean's arrest not a credible witness.

"Probable cause to arrest in this case comes down to the credibility of Lt. (John) Magruder and this court does not believe Lt. Magruder's testimony," Gainer wrote in his opinion.
