Last October the Amsterdam Court ruled that three former Pirate Bay operators had to remove a list of ‘infringing’ torrents from the website and block access to Dutch users. The Pirate Bay trio had to comply with the Court’s demands before today, but nothing has changed and it’s unlikely that the Dutch will be shut out of the site in the near future.

Users of electronic cash protocol Bitcoin might soon have another way to access and spend funds...Charlie Shrem...revealed that his company was 6-8 weeks away from launching a Bitcoin-funded international debit / credit card that will be issued by two unnamed major banks: one international and one domestic...the card will function like a regular debit or credit account and should be accepted wherever MasterCard is accepted – virtually everywhere. The first 1,000 cards will be given away for free but after those have been spoken for, expect to pay around $10 for a card.

M2Z, a California company, had high hopes of offering coast-to-coast wireless Internet access at no cost to the end-user by using a bit of wireless spectrum that has remained unassigned since the Clinton administration. The FCC, an unaccountable and unelected organization that claims the responsibility for "regulating interstate and international communications" denied without comment the company's bid to use the dormant spectrum.

General Motors Company sold a record number of Chevy Volts in the month of August. This is not good for the company's bottom line, however, as GM is losing as much as $49,000 on each Volt sold, according to industry analysts and manufacturing experts. GM is estimated to be years away from making money on the Volt, and will soon face new competition from Ford, Honda, and others. The Volt's steep ($39,995) base price and complex technology have kept buyers away from Chevy showrooms.

Most of the time you get a local monopoloy from a cable company and that's your only real choice for broadband internet service, and I know my service SUCKS. I'm in favor of free-market solutions and competition, but it doesn't really exist for Cable and Broadband services. This LA city has a public ISP that supposedly operates reliable at advertised speeds, for MUCH less per subscriber.
