SEATTLE -- On the heels of a scathing federal review of Seattle police practices, dash-cam video is once again at the center of a firestorm at City Hall.

This time, the city is suing an attorney who wanted dash-cam videos connected to alleged police misconduct.

The National Police Misconduct Statistics and Reporting Project as started in 2009 as a method of recording and analyzing police misconduct in the US.
From 01/10 through 06/10 there were:
* 2,541 Unique reports of police misconduct cited.
* 3,240 Law enforcement officers cited in recorded police misconduct reports.
* 178 Of the law enforcement officers reported were departmental leaders, police chiefs, and sheriffs.
* 4,199 Alleged victims of police misconduct associated with these reports.
* 124 Fatalities associated with these reports.

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - In a surprise move Monday night the city of Oak Hill eliminated its entire police department.

The police chief and a few officers were under scrutiny for alleged illegal and odd behavior. The city council was so fed up they simply wiped out the entire department.

"[T]his outlay of funds is outrageous to those of us who represent victims of serious police abuse and misconduct, and could be put to much better use properly compensating those victims...," says the People's Law Office.

A 32-year-old car dealer is suing the city of Carrollton in federal court, alleging civil rights violations and saying that a police officer used excessive force against him a year ago as he tried to deliver a car.

TRAVERSE CITY, MI — Video of two northern Michigan men being subdued and arrested in a National Cherry Festival crowd by Traverse City police this week has sparked a debate about whether officers went over the line in their duties. Mayor William Lantigua says he will no longer pay legal bills for police officers being sued, including the bills for those officers involved in nine brutality cases pending in U.S. District Court.

Fredericton (Canada) - Bernard Richard, the province’s former ombudsman, has been hired by the City of Fredericton to investigate the city police force’s handling of the criminal libel charges against blogger Charles LeBlanc.

The former provincial ombudsman will “review and investigate all aspects of conduct” of the city police force.
