Recently, we have seen many news reports of lemonade stands being shut down by police and other government workers. When kids sell things, such as lemonade, they are learning some very important lessons. They are learning about money and about being an entrepreneur. They are also learning how to be a productive member of society. They are learning about responsibility. They are participating in free and voluntary trade with willing participants. Selling lemonade is not a crime.

How government schools teach kids to lead lives they will regret, and what we can do about it.

The next time kids in five San Antonio elementary schools try to sneak those extra french fries onto their tray in the cafeteria line, the eye in the sky will be watching them.

Some sacrifices are painful; others bring surprise benefits.

It's weird how proud people are of not learning math when the same arguments apply to learning to play music, cook, or speak a foreign language.
The only things you HAVE to know are how to make enough of a living to stay alive and how to get your taxes done. All the fun parts of life are optional.

Around the country and the world educators are starting to enforce best friend bans, instead encouraging kids to have large groups of friends. The educators don't care if parents are fine with their kids having a best friend, or psychologists warnings that not going through the best friends experience can stunt the development of children. They think this is better.

A new story about schools tracking overweight kids. This includes everything from their sleeping habits to their heart rates and activity levels...sometimes without parental consent.

As much as we love thinking of ourselves as the rebellious kids fighting against an oppressive society run by unreasonable old men, the truth is that most things that are illegal are illegal for a reason. Society just doesn't enjoy your public urination as much as you do.
But sometimes, the grownups get it wrong. Hilariously wrong, in fact.
