In what critics are seeing as an ultimate power grab, state officials in Connecticut are pushing forward a bill to require state investigations of children like never before – calling for a “confidential behavioral health assessment” of every public school student in grades 6, 8, 10 and 12, and every homeschool student at ages 12, 14 and 17.

The proposed Bill 374 is being described as the ultimate home invasion.

A few examples of how the state thinks they own your kids, with a small example from the recent news of a mother who allowed her son to get a tattoo and was arrested.

It’s the “there is no spoon” view. It is the realization that the State isn’t a thing or a place, it’s only an idea. And it is a terrible idea, at that. And once you realize that the State is only an idea — you can begin to accurately and peacefully address the problem immediately.

Once you believe that the State isn’t interested in expanding liberty, only in limiting it; that the political class uses violence as a matter of practice, which is in direct opposition to peace; and that violence is a terrible way to get things done … there are 3 options ...

Dear Liberty Community / Activists, I'd like/need your help. I recently wrote a letter about America being a police state which got good play on Northern California's #1 radio show. I've been contacted by them and told that if I can come up with a much larger list, they will "...post it and promote the hell out of it!"

So, I'd like to make a 101 list in the style of my original letter.

Example:
"Would America be a police state if, Government agents could write their own search warrants? They do.

The Motion Picture Assn. of America is seeing bright red over a new report that attacks the very notion of state film subsidies.
"It's junk research with a political agenda," huffed Vans Stevenson, the MPAA's senior VP of state government affairs.

Many of us here in Florida have repeatedly tried to get the message across to the Florida legislators that there are many things wrong with Florida’s education. They were ask NOT to participate in Race To The Top (RTTT) and the Common Core Standards (CCS). We showed them the problems, but when we mentioned Jeb Bush and how his Foundation for Excellence is doing the state’s children no favors, we were immediately cut off. No Child Left Behind has been a failure from the beginning and the state’s own FCAT scores show that to be true for over a decade.

State Rep. Daniel Itse of Fremont, NH, wants to create a volunteer “permanent state defense force,” separate from the New Hampshire National Guard, to assist with disaster relief and “defend the state against invasion.”

Parents do not own their children, and therefore have no right to aggress against them. I should hope that in a free society, we would have the decency to defend the most helpless among us from the predations of their wards. For now, however, that job is sadly left to the state, just like so many other matters of interpersonal justice. Perhaps it would be better to focus on actual victims of state excess, and not the so-called ‘rights’ of petty aggressors to victimize their physical inferiors.
