Mom of Autistic Son Facing Jail Time for Tardies

A Michigan mother of an autistic boy faces up to three months in jail after a truancy charge stemming from more than a hundred separate incidents of absences and tardiness over the last few years.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) – A Jefferson County man was held in jail after refusing to get a license for his dog. Now he and his wife are fighting the fine in court.

Los Angeles county officials are demanding that a creative homeowner tear down a 20,000-square-foot domicile he calls "Phonehenge West"--or face up to seven years in jail. A jury began hearing the county's case against Fahey last week: He is charged with 14 criminal misdemeanor counts, including unlawful use of land.

A month later, a Florida man was reportedly sentenced to a year and one day in jail after he failed to remove litter from the front of his house.

It just doesn't get more ridiculous than this. Julie Bass of Oak Park, Michigan -- a mother of 6, law-abiding citizen, and gardener -- is facing 93 days in jail after being charged with a misdemeanor. Her crime? Planting a vegetable garden in the front yard.
