The TSA is a natural target for political demonstrations. Their invasive sexual molestation is unpopular with everyone, and their checkpoints come ready made with a captive audience. In 2010 Aaron Tobey was handcuffed and held for 90 minutes by the TSA at the Richmond Airport in Virginia after he stripped off his shirt to display the Fourth Amendment scrawled across his chest with a marker.

On Friday he won a civil rights lawsuit seeking $250,000 in damages against the TSA for being wrongfully detained on a disorderly conduct charge. And for that he is our Rebel of the Week.

A 21-year-old Virginia man who wrote an abbreviated version of the Fourth Amendment on his body and stripped to his shorts at an airport security screening area is demanding $250,000 in damages for being detained on a disorderly conduct charge.

Today happens to be the birthday of one of my all time favorite rebels. So, I thought I’d take us back in time and declare Lysander Spooner the rebel of this week in 1808.

Lysander Spooner was a nineteenth century American political philosopher, pamphleteer, entrepreneur, abolitionist and individualist anarchist. Spooner advocated what he called the “Science of Justice” which held that the initiation of coercion against an individual or their property was a natural crime, but so-called crimes that violated man-made statutes but had no victim were no crime at all.

That got him another ticket for disorderly conduct. And now it has made him $4,000 richer.

City prosecutors dropped the disorderly conduct ticket and Olathe last week agreed its insurance company would pay $4,000 to Schaper and $1,000 to his lawyers, the American Civil Liberties Union of Kansas and Western Missouri....

Yesterday I accidentally threw myself into a depression with the Tinfoil Tuesday coverage about how fast the tyrannical laws were rolling out. But as they say, every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Today it seems I have the opposite problem. There are just too many Rebel stories to pick just one. So, this week instead of focusing on a single Rebel we’re going to have to do a quick round-up of all the Rebels who have hit the headlines that we haven’t had time to cover.
