SMITHFIELD, N.C. - With fresh ammunition from a University of North Carolina law school report, activists renewed their call Thursday for state officials to take legal action against Aero Contractors Ltd.

For years the Johnston County, N.C., air transport company, which has links to the CIA, has been accused of being a taxi service for paramilitary teams that pick up terrorism suspects in one country and fly them to another where it’s easier to interrogate and, perhaps, torture them. The process is known as extraordinary rendition.

Torture is as far off the path to the golden rule as you can get, yet the District of Columbia government endorses it's use. If you support torture, don't worry, someday you will break some random law they create, and you will be in the torture chair. This is a clip from the 90's movie, "The Siege", a time before torture was accepted by the people of this country.

Last Saturday the weekly demonstrations for and against the wars in West Chester, PA were joined by some special visitors. One was an activist I only know as Barbara advocating the closure of the Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp in Cuba.
The other visitor was local conservative talk show host, and advocate of torture, Dom Giordano. He engages Barbara in a lively debate on the subject of torture and Guantanamo.

A nonpartisan, independent review of interrogation and detention programs in the years after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks concludes that “it is indisputable that the United States engaged in the practice of torture” and that the nation’s highest officials bore ultimate responsibility for it.

In 2008, reports surfaced that detainees at Guantanamo Bay had been tortured by songs such as Metallica's "Enter Sandman" and Drowning Pool's "Bodies." Now, a new documentary from Al Jazeera shows that detainees may also have been subjected to musical torture of a softer variety. With each revelation, or court decision, on US torture in Iraq, Afghanistan and Gitmo—or the airing this month of The Tillman Story and Lawrence Wright's My Trip to Al-Qaeda—I am reminded of the chilling story of Alyssa Peterson, who died seven years ago this week.
