A Maryland man now faces up to five years in prison after he recorded his traffic stop last month in Harford County. Graber was speeding with his motorcycle with a camera attached to his helmet recording his ride.

Most new criminal laws are unnecessary and this one is especially so. But considering all the possible crimes we could commit, how cool would it be to have a conviction for Motorcycle Stunt Driving? To quote Will Smith’s character in the movie Independence Day: “I have got to get me one of these!”

Many people call them "speed traps," cops call them "Speed Enforcement Details." Regardless, they're designed to save lives, but this weekend, a woman on a motorcycle was killed while being pulled over. "They were wearing helmets. They don't drink. They were out for a nice "Sunday cruise" and now Margie is gone," said the victim's friend, Nancie Risola. "Margie's not gone because they were going a little over the speed limit," Risola said. "She's gone because they were stopped in an unsafe place."

Anthony Graber, a Maryland Air National Guard staff sergeant, faces up to 16 years in prison. His crime? He videotaped his March encounter with a state trooper who pulled him over for speeding on a motorcycle. Then Graber put the video — which could put the officer in a bad light — up on YouTube. It doesn't sound like much. But Graber is not the only person being slapped down by the long arm of the law for the simple act of videotaping the police in a public place. Prosecutors across the U.S. claim the videotaping violates wiretap laws — a stretch, to put it mildly.

On March 31 he was headed home, on foot as usual, on the far left of South Road. A car came in his direction, which he judged was going too fast and not as far into the middle of the road as he would have liked. As the car approached, Dr. Walsh waved his arms "as I usually do just to make sure the driver can detect motion and see me more clearly." He said the driver saw him but still came within 18 inches of him.

Also: a fine of $1,000 on anyone who pops a wheelie on a motorcycle while speeding; Illinois is also imposing a law cracking down on those who posses, sell or distribute shark fins; in Concord, Mass., plastic bottles will be considered contraband; it will no longer be illegal to flash your headlights in Florida to warn drivers about a speeding trap set by police; etc.
