Cicero (WSYR-TV) - The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office has arrested a Cicero Police sergeant and charged with attacking a child while off duty.

Sgt. John Baldini, 37, has been charged with misdemeanor assault and endangering the welfare of a child in relation to an incident Onondaga County Sheriff's Deputies say occurred at Commissio's Pizzeria in North Syracuse.

Constable Andrew Vanderburgh was “harassed and berated” by fellow officers because on Nov. 28, 2009, he arrested and charged an off-duty police constable with impaired driving and having a blood-alcohol level over 80 milligrams, according to an internal police disciplinary ruling. Some officers also allegedly called Vanderburgh a “rat,” Justice Paul Reinhardt wrote in a pre-trial ruling.

An investigation has been launched inside the Houston Police Department over a sergeant's comments as his officers were setting out to patrol this year's Gay Pride Parade in the Montrose area. The high-ranking officer said the complaint alleges that the Special Operations sergeant was preparing to leave the police station when he was heard telling officers under his command that it was time to go for "f---ing up some fag--ts" and he said some "fags are going to jail tonight."

An impaired, off-duty Kennedy police officer struck and critically injured a pedestrian with his car Friday morning on the South Side but remains free while the investigation continues, Pittsburgh police said.

Pittsburgh police and Kennedy officials refused to name the officer. Sources, however, identified him as Frank A. Caligiuri Jr., 40, a 12-year veteran.

He was released "pending charges," police said.

Two police officers were in Haverhill District Court yesterday — not as prosecution witnesses, but as defendants in late-night fracas during which one off-duty officer Tasered the other. Lawrence Patrolman Daron Fraser was charged with domestic assault and battery and assault on a pregnant woman outside her home in Haverhill Tuesday night. Kingston NH Patrolman Joshua Wallar, who subdued Fraser with a Taser issued by his department, was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

The law is the law -- come what may.

A man arrested at a July 4 house party is charged with a count of wiretapping, alleging he used his cell phone to film the police response. Police confirmed Tuesday that Adam H. Whitman, 20, of New Castle, was arrested on that charge. However, the charge is likely to be dismissed and/or replaced with another charge, possibly disorderly conduct or obstructing government administration. Whitman was "impaired by alcohol" when he was arrested and, when the case was later reviewed, wiretapping didn't seem to be "a viable charge."

A Toronto police officer has been charged with assaulting G20 protestor Adam Nobody, whose case became a flashpoint for public outrage over police actions at the summit.

Anthony Graber, a Maryland Air National Guard staff sergeant, faces up to 16 years in prison. His crime? He videotaped his March encounter with a state trooper who pulled him over for speeding on a motorcycle. Then Graber put the video — which could put the officer in a bad light — up on YouTube. It doesn't sound like much. But Graber is not the only person being slapped down by the long arm of the law for the simple act of videotaping the police in a public place. Prosecutors across the U.S. claim the videotaping violates wiretap laws — a stretch, to put it mildly.
