In Naperville, IL, two mothers were arrested last week for refusing to allow utility workers to install controversial smart meters on their homes. The city’s new Naperville Smart Grid Initiative requires new controversial smart meters to be installed in every home. Residents opposed to the smart meters have been fighting the initiative for over two years.

Assistant Energy Secretary Cathy Zoi said Thursday that the U.S. Department of Energy has a “mandate” to issue regulations to determine what household appliances are available to Americans in the future... The Obama administration intends to use to advance the “deployment of clean energy.” thru 4 "tactics": The first three include government subsidies for private-sector green energy projects; “The fourth one, which the secretary and I love,” said Zoi, “is where we have a mandate. Where we can actually just issue regulations and do market transformation.”

The National Security Agency should complete construction of its 1 million square foot data center near Bluffdale, Utah, this year. As Wired first reported last year, its purpose is to intercept, analyze and store data passing through both domestic and foreign communications networks — including the e-mails, phone calls and Google search history of U.S. citizens.

Washington, DC citizens who thought the district government would reimburse them for "going green" are in for an unpleasant surprise.
