A suburban Chicago police officer allegedly turned a $132 speeding ticket into a pick-up opportunity when he later tracked down the female driver and asked her out, saying the least he could do for the money he'd cost her was to treat her to dinner, according to a lawsuit the woman filed in federal court.

As a diabetic, this meant trouble, and Harmon's vehicle veered into another lane. A nearby Hamilton, Ohio sheriff's deputy spotted the unintentional maneuver and pulled him over. The officer then approached the car with his gun drawn and screamed at Harmon before smashing his window open. Harmon, 52, was then cut out of his seatbelt and dragged him to the ground.

I KNEW it! Proof that at least one police department has quotas for speeding tickets. They were even taken off normal patrols to issue moving violations. This story says they were supposed to write 18 tickets a day. Several cops are sueing LAPD for this as quotas are illegal.

A German judge has shot to popularity after letting 42 speeding drivers off without charges in the last week because he thinks speed controls merely serve to fill the state's coffers rather than prevent accidents.
A spokesman for Herford court in northwestern Germany, said the judge, Helmut Knoener, believed speed controls were not conducted to ensure greater road safety, but rather to provide the cash-strapped state with an additional source of income.
