A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 17% of Likely U.S. Voters think the federal government today has the consent of the governed. Sixty-nine percent (69%) believe the government does not have that consent. Fourteen percent (14%) are undecided.

The number of voters who feel the government has the consent of the governed - a foundational principle, contained in the Declaration of Independence - is down from 23% in early May and has fallen to its lowest level measured yet.

During the Cold War, the Doomsday Clock was created as a subjective measure of the possibility of a nuclear exchange between the United States and the Soviet Union. Today, as a result of the most recent decisions of the Supreme Court of the United States which clearly repudiate the original Constitution of the United States, and thus are placing the reasons for union between the states in jeapardy, I would like to announce...the Secession Clock. Seems Native Hawaiians are trying secession from US.. "To express the policy of the United States regarding the United States relationship with Native Hawaiians and to provide a process for the recognition by the United States of the Native Hawaiian governing entity."

On Thursday, Washington became the first state to officially legalize marijuana, soon to be followed by Colorado as their new laws legalizing the drug for recreational use go into effect. A survey out Friday shows what Americans want the federal government to do about the states whose drug laws clash with national laws: Leave them alone. Fifty-one percent of Americans in the new HuffPost/YouGov poll said that in the two states that have legalized marijuana use for adults, the federal government should exempt any adults following state laws from federal drug law enforcement.

President Barack Obama has an unexpected foreign policy problem – in
the Western United States. The Lakota Sioux nation has seceded from the
United States, according to a story on the anti-American website La Voz de Aztlan.

“We are no longer citizens of the United States of America and all
those who live in the five-state area that encompasses our country are
free to join us,” long-time Native American radical leader Russell Means said. The move potentially impacts the states of Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana and Wyoming.

As of Saturday November 10, 2012, 15 States have petitioned the Obama Administration for withdrawal from the United States of America in order to create its own government.

States following this action include: Louisiana, Texas, Montana, North Dakota, Indiana, Mississippi, Kentucky, North Carolina, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, Colorado, Oregon and New York. These States have requested that the Obama Administration grant a peaceful withdrawal from the United States.

In autumn 2001, America’s initial purpose in Afghanistan—which made perfect sense—was to destroy or incapacitate al Qaeda and punish the Taliban government that hosted it. This was accomplished 11 years ago. Today, the purpose of the U.S. mission is ill-defined, but clearly involves nation building. What the coalition desperately needs is an achievable, realistic endgame, not an indefinite timeline that commits thousands of U.S. troops to Afghanistan until or beyond 2024.

Sunday's referendum in southern Sudan gives voters a choice between staying united with the rest of Sudan or becoming an independent country. Most analysts predict southerners will choose independence. The new country would be Africa's first since Eritrea won independence in 1993.
