On June 26th 2010 the seeds of a voluntary society were sown in Lancaster New Hampshire. Participants in the annual Porcupine Freedom Festival held a signing ceremony to inaugurate their founding document, The Shire Society Declaration, which some have called a new declaration of independence.

The LCL report was one of the lucky few that got to see it. Picture your ideal future. OK, not your ideal future, where you're the last man on earth fighting the zombie horde, but society's ideal future: Energy is clean and limitless, goods are plentiful and machines take care of all the dirty work. So everybody's happy, right?

But in many ways, that future is already here, and it can be described in five letters:

FARTS.

I should probably explain.

A group of coal miners in Ohio feel they would have been fired if they did not attend an Aug. 14 event with presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney and contribute to his campaign — and to make matters worse, they lost of day of pay for their trouble. “There were no workers that were forced to attend the event,” management said. “We had managers that communicated to our work force that the attendance at the Romney event was mandatory, but no one was forced to attend the event."

The reason why I think highlighting this article is important is that Mark and Ian tend to discredit the fact that the media is controlled. What I think they fail to acknowledge is that you don't need to control every person in every media organization, you only need to have at least 1 person in each organization who will parrot your propaganda to control a large swath of the population's current event and historical knowledge. This article is a great example of this. This form of media control must be taken seriously.

The Free Minds Film Festival uses film along with guest lecturers and panels to educate people about the ideas of a free society. These ideas change the world and lead to a freer, more voluntary, and more peaceful society.
