The US army general, David Petraeus, made clear today that he would not be bound by Barack Obama's promise to start withdrawing US troops from Afghanistan by July next year.
In his first interview since taking command of Nato troops in the country less than two months ago, the top general said he could foresee circumstances where conditions would make it impossible for him to recommend a reduction in forces.

On Sunday, veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, as well as members of Afghans for Peace, led a peace march of thousands of people. Iraq Veterans Against the War held a ceremony where nearly 50 veterans discarded their war medals by hurling them down the street in the direction of the NATO summit. We hear the soldiers’ voices as they return their medals one by one from the stage. "I’m here to return my Global War on Terror Service Medal in solidarity with the people of Iraq and the people of Afghanistan," said Jason Hurd, a former combat medic who spent 10 years in the U.S. Army.

L.A. Residents Plead With LAPD On Signs, Shirts: ‘Don’t Shoot, I’m Not Chris Dorner’

In response to the LAPD shooting at least 3 innocent people in a manhunt for Chris Dorner, the fugitive ex-cop and alleged murderer they’re hunting with U.S. military spy drones, residents of Los Angeles have begun wearing shirts and placing signs on their vehicles that read, “Don’t shoot, I’m not Chris Dorner. Thank you.”

The top U.S. commander in the Middle East will warn Congress on Tuesday against efforts to scale back the Navy's presence, saying threats from Iran and elsewhere will require more ships and maritime missile defense capabilities. Marine Gen. James Mattis, head of U.S. Central Command, also said Syria has a "substantial" chemical and biological weapons capability and thousands of shoulder-launched missiles.

It's a place where people can take their gun and shoot at people -- and they shoot back. There are, however, important rules of engagement that the owner says makes his gun range perfectly safe. The place is called Combat City. Before you step foot inside the range, customers meet with owner Dave Kaplan. “First thing, when you get here, everybody's checked. No guns, knives, ammunition on them,” said Kaplan. He then modifies the customer's weapon, replacing the barrel so a live round will not fire but will still function as a regular weapon, shooting a soft rubber bullet instead.

A 64-year-old Daytona woman didn't hesitate to pull a gun on a suspected car thief whom she caught running from deputies, WFTV learned on Wednesday.

Investigators said Roderick Willis was a wanted fugitive and was being tracked by a sheriff's helicopter.

The helicopter had a spotlight on him as he ran along the side of Karen Granville's home and into her backyard.

In 2004, the hottest new fashion to wear while killing "terrorists" was the US military's "Digital Camouflage." At the cost of $5B US, the US military forced its adoption in all branches of service, replacing the former "woodland" and "desert" camouflage, but not before running it through layers of bureaucracy and compromise.
