One former drug cop's crusade of civil disobedience against America's drug war establishment has turned into a nightmare for his family, which now faces the very real threat of losing a father and husband for up to six months or more. Barry Cooper stood handcuffed in front of the state's capitol building on Friday morning, after he'd turned himself in on a warrant for allegedly making a False Report to a Peace Officer.

Three men claiming to be FBI agents forced their way into a Burbank home just after midnight Wednesday and made off with $20,000 in cash, police said.

The men, clad in dark clothes, gloves and ski masks, banged on the door in the 1000 block of East Fairmount Road, identifying themselves as federal agents to the married couple and their teenage son inside.

When the residents opened the door a crack, the men pushed their way in, with one of the robbers flashing a handgun, police said.

A Texas father caught a man sexually assaulting his 4-year-old daughter and punched him in the head repeatedly, killing him, authorities said. The father was casually acquainted with the alleged abuser, said Lavaca County Sheriff Micah Harmon. Neither has been publicly identified. The girl was left inside the family's house during the social gathering, while other members of her family were tending to horses, the sheriff said. The alleged abuser was known for his horse-grooming abilities, Harmon said.

Anderson Cooper has, at long last, publicly said he is gay. Cooper made the announcement in an email to writer Andrew Sullivan. "The fact is, I'm gay, always have been, always will be, and I couldn’t be any more happy, comfortable with myself, and proud," he wrote. Cooper's sexuality has long been the subject of ample media speculation, but he has never publicly confirmed it -- a fact which he also seemed to address in the email to Sullivan. Cooper also said that he ultimately decided that he was doing more harm than good by not speaking up.

The court system has spoken, and it says, if you’re not Christian, you’re not fit to be a parent. A divorced veteran in Indiana says he lost custody of his children, with a judge’s ruling explaining, “the father did not participate in the same religious training as the mother…father was agnostic.”
