if the government trots out “child pornography” as a reason to have these invasive and ever-expanding powers, don’t believe it. They’ve ignored hundreds of cases already.

At first, it looked like Quazi Nafis, the man accused of plotting to blow up the Federal Reserve in New York, had only the help of the FBI in allegedly delivering a van full of what he thought were explosives to the door of the downtown building. But on Thursday authorities said he had an accomplice, who also just happens to be an alleged child pornography fan. There are some legitimate questions to ask about the ethics of helping someone hatch a terrorist plot just to bust him for it, as apparently happened with Nafis.

The US Government has yet again shuttered several domain names this week. What they failed to mention, however, is that one of the targeted domains belongs to a free DNS provider, and that 84,000 websites were wrongfully accused of links to child pornography crimes.

VISITORS have been ordered to reveal illegal pornography to customs officers in a move which has been criticised as "totally confusing" and an invasion of privacy.

Justice Minister Brendan O'Connor said that illegal material must be declared on arrival, watering down recent rules that asked for all pornography to be revealed.

But he said anyone who is not sure whether they have illegal pornography should reveal it just in case. The revamped rule is outlined on arrival cards which are filled in by travellers coming to Australia.
