An Indianapolis police officer who was once honored for his prolific arrests of drunken drivers could cost the city more than $1 million in legal claims stemming from a fatal crash in which he is accused of driving drunk.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving spokeswoman Dorene Englert expressed disappointment today in Officer David Bisard. MADD recognized Bisard in the late 1990s while he was a Noblesville police officer.

NEW YORK – The New York Police Department is investigating why it took more than eight hours for a police officer suspected of drunken driving to be given a blood-alcohol test. Rafael Casiano crashed his car at about 4:30 a.m. Friday in the Bronx while off duty. Another officer riding with him with was hospitalized with a head injury.

A prosecutor has decided to drop drunken driving charges against an Indianapolis police officer accused in a crash that killed a motorcyclist because the blood test that showed the officer was drunk wasn't done properly.

LOS ANGELES -- A white former transit officer was convicted of involuntary manslaughter Thursday in the shooting death of an unarmed black man on an Oakland train platform in a 2009 encounter that set off days of rioting in the city.

The jury deliberated more than six hours over two days to convict Johannes Mehserle in the killing of 22-year-old Oscar Grant, who was shot to death as he lay face-down.

The officer who was shot at was working an off-duty detail at the time, but police said she was in a marked cruiser and in uniform.

"He ordered two slices," said Sam Karia, a witness. "He was buggin' out on the phone. Actually someone heard him crying on the phone to somebody."

A St. Louis County police officer arrested one of his fellow officers on suspicion of drunken driving and unlawful use of a weapon, according to police reports released Monday.

The police officer was driving 94mph with no lights or sirens, and was not headed towards a call when they smashed into two people making a left hand turn. The police officer Jason Anderson has been charged with manslaughter and is currently on paid leave from the department.

"He was intoxicated," said the teen. "I smelled a ton of alcohol off of him. He was drunk."
The teen says that officer was barefoot and only wearing a bathing suit as the man barged through and broke his family's front door. Pifer says the officer assaulted him and threatened his sister until a neighbor stepped in to help.
The neighbor asked the officer what triggered the chase as she bandaged his bleeding hand.

"He said he smelled cigarette smoke"

Officer Salvatore Riveri, the Baltimore City police officer seen in a You Tube video berating a teenage skateboarder at the Inner Harbor, has been fired.

Police department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told WBAL News that Rivieri has been "separated from the department," but he could not comment further because this is a personnel matter.
