The Transportation Security Administration, under scrutiny after last month’s bombing attempt, has on its Web site a “mythbuster” that tries to reassure the public.

With a quota driven system that forces cops to meet summonses and arrest numbers, I fear that unarmed motorist will be shot by inexperienced rookie cops that are trained to shoot first and ask questions later. These constant interactions between people and police are a recipe for disaster and will cause far more harm than good as nervous cops with guns converge on cars that approach this intersection after dark.

A UK immigration officer put his own wife on a terrorist watch list – ­so she could not get home from a trip to Pakistan. The officer was so sick of his partner that when she was visiting family overseas he added her name to the register of people banned from flights into the UK. When she went to the airport to get her return flight back, officials told her she could not board the plane and did not ­explain why. She called her husband, who ­promised to look into it – but left her stuck in Pakistan for THREE YEARS. He was sacked after bosses found out about his antics.

At the San Diego International Airport yesterday, about one-fifth of the travelers were selected for sexual assault by transportation security agents. Though TSA’s website did not list SAN as one of the airports employing the carcinogenic naked scan or a full body rub down, one man was told his refusal to submit would result in a civil law suit and a $10,000 fine. Under 49 CFR Sec.s 1540.105 and 1540.107, as summarized in these 2004 TSA Sanction Guidelines, apparently TSA has Congressional support to fine people for refusing to submit to molestation.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is permitted to include people on the government’s terrorist watch list even if they have been acquitted of terrorism-related offenses or the charges are dropped, according to newly released documents.

n light of new reports alleging that the TSA is creating a watch list of individuals who criticized the agency as a form of collective punishment, it’s revealing to note that CNN journalist Drew Griffin was also put on a TSA watch list immediately after he filed reports critical of the organization back in 2008.

The TSA is keeping a mini “watch list” of its own. It’s not a watch list of potential terrorists. It’s a watch list of peeved travelers who since 2007 have scared TSA workers by showing anger such as punching walls or kicking equipment. It makes their workplace uncomfortable, don’t you know.
