A Maryland man now faces up to five years in prison after he recorded his traffic stop last month in Harford County. Graber was speeding with his motorcycle with a camera attached to his helmet recording his ride.

Anthony Graber, a Maryland Air National Guard staff sergeant, faces up to 16 years in prison. His crime? He videotaped his March encounter with a state trooper who pulled him over for speeding on a motorcycle. Then Graber put the video — which could put the officer in a bad light — up on YouTube. It doesn't sound like much. But Graber is not the only person being slapped down by the long arm of the law for the simple act of videotaping the police in a public place. Prosecutors across the U.S. claim the videotaping violates wiretap laws — a stretch, to put it mildly.

A prosecutor has decided to drop drunken driving charges against an Indianapolis police officer accused in a crash that killed a motorcyclist because the blood test that showed the officer was drunk wasn't done properly.

The 2nd Circuit US Court of Appeals has ruled that recording an in-person conversation without the knowledge of all parties is only a violation of federal wiretapping law if the person making the recording intends to use the recording for illegal purposes. At least in the states that do not have explicit laws against recording cops, this should nullify the abuses of wiretapping laws against people recording in public.

Charges against a police officer jailed in a two-state shooting rampage will be formally dropped Wednesday, a prosecutor said.

The Prince George's County prosecutors have dropped charges against two University of Maryland students they claimed struck mounted Park Police officers and their horses after a basketball game in March. A video shot by another student, meanwhile, shows police beating one of those students without apparent provocation.
